AstraZeneca
use BasePlateXR to produce assay-ready compound
plates for their high throughput screening operation.
BasePlateXR uses PlateSafes
as a ‘common currency’ to manage stacks
of plates as shown in the diagram below: |
| |
|
| |
In AstraZeneca’s
compound management process, Mother plates of
source compound are housed in PlateSafes which
are stored in a cold room. These are manually
removed and loaded into the BasePlateXR plate
handling module. Once inside BasePlateXR, the
plates are replicated to make sample plates ready
for high throughput screening. |

The
PlateSafes ensure that evaporation from aqueous
samples and water uptake from samples solubilised
in DMSO is minimised. |
| |
|
| |
Throughout
the entire process, from storage to plate production
and screening, there is no manual handling of the
plates and exposure to ambient air is minimised.
|
| BasePlateXR
can produce one plate every minute. Reliable pipetting
accuracy and precision is delivered by the build
quality of the dispenser, its precise motion control
and the ability to optimise liquid handling protocols
through the use of BasePlateXR’s user interface.
